I haven’t watched anything from the list I posted in the last episode, but I’ve kept up with most things I’ve begun watching (which is a rare change). Instead, I’ve decided I’ll belatedly make a awards-style review of shows I watched from Spring 08-Winter 08/09. (Read: I’m awesome and lazy at the same time)
Action:
I’m looking back at the things I’ve watched and there’s not a vast amount I liked action-wise. However, a series I did love was Kurenai, so I’m putting this down, because it was pretty much fucking awesome. When did BSS stop subbing good shows and start on shit? If I watched it, I reckon Birdy would be up here too, and Kurozuka was also pretty badass.
Comedy:
Unintentional comedy was all over the place in last year, but I’m going to choose between things that are actually meant to be comedy. There were some pretty decent comedies, such as Kannagi, Maria Holic, Hetalia and Kemeko DX, but I have to split this award between Detroit Metal City and Tentai Senshi Sunred. Both were the only ones that made me laugh aloud on a consistent basis and they’re both absolute gems.
Fantasy:
Did I watch much fantasy? I think I watched some, but only Yakushiji Ryoko no Kaiki Jikenbo sticks out. Feel free to point out anything I’m missing, because I may have watched it. On another note, Yakushiji was pretty cool.
Fan Service:
I made this category why? Whenever I watch this kind of shit I normally cringe and then die. I’m going to go with Koihime Musou just because I finished it.
Gay:
Antique Bakery.
Mecha:
None of them, because they all sucked dick and I’m still waiting for a good, recent Mecha anime. [I don't count Xam'd as Mecha, but that would win this category hands down]
Mystery:
Kara no Kyoukai.
Romance:
I like romance, but the majority of romance shows are shitty high school “comedy” type shit, or stupidly bawww all the time. This cancels out almost everything, but I already chose my winner beforehand. Kaiba was an amazing show.
Sci-fi:
It’s easy to put some things here, especially things that have already won awards. However, I’m going to go with Eve no Jikan, because the artistic direction is great and although it hasn’t finished it is about a length above most other things in this category. It’s also bizarre because it has Fukujun in a perfectly likable, normal-sounding role.
Slice of life:
Oh god, I’m torn. I really want to put Hyakko here but Chi’s Sweet Home is one of the best anime I have ever seen.
Animation:
This is the part where I realise I shouldn’t have dropped a lot of things so early into their broadcasts. I’m failing to think of one that stands out as incredibly awesome, but for originality and consistency I’m going to award Kaiba again.
Soundtrack:
Kara no Kyoukai, again.
Opening:
Tytania.
Ending:
Maria Holic for kyun(!).
Insert:
I’m going to go with Tentai Senshi Sunred because the song is awesome.
Disappointment:
Oh god, there’s so much to put here. Geass R2, Gundam 00 s2, Kurokami… But Tytania was probably the worst for me. I seriously was expecting LOGH-style epicness with modern flashy animation, but instead we got some boring shit.
Quarity:
90% of shows in 2008.
Failure:
The worst show of 2008? Well, I missed a lot, but Macademi Wasshoi is probably the thing I dropped fastest.
Worst Voice Actor:
Yoshino Hiroyuki (Allelujiah Haptism, Nishijou Takumi, Idris Tytania, probably something else). His voice is pretty damn annoying.
Worst Voice Actress:
Kugimiya Rie. Because she is fucking everywhere and her voice is SO FUCKING RAGE INDUCING.
Best Voice Actor:
These tend not to stick out, and I could faggot out with WAKAMOTO but I’ll go with Fujiwara Keiji because of his roles in Antique and Xam’d.
Best Voice Actress:
Toss up between Inoue Marina and Tomatsu Haruka, for me. It’s not like Haruka’s voice is anything awesome, but she can sing well and she’s actually hot.
Well, that’s all I can think of. That certainly did pass some time, I must say. Feel free to rage at me for anything.
hahahah that got mu FULL attention, finally some who agrees that Yoshino Hiroyuki’s voice is quite annoying XD I hated Allelujiah just because of the vioce, and Rie Kugimiya is over-rated too…
the amazing thing is that you picked Fujiwara as the best, nice choice *thumps up*
