I’m halfway through my exams, and slowly watching anime here and there, catching up in more ways than one.
I guess the point of this post is a) to show I’m still alive b) apologise for not delivering some better blog post earlier (I’ve had plans for making one about the awesomeness of 0080) and c) look at what’s coming up next season.
I don’t know why people are saying next season is going to suck. There’s a dozen or so shows I’m interested in, and probably something similar for most people. The following is a list of shows and why you should check it out, or why they might be good, or why I don’t want to watch them.
Tokyo Magnitude 8.0
Am I watching: Yes
Should you watch: Yes
Why: Amid cries of BONES I’m actually watching this because the premise seems interesting — disaster and post-disaster anime are usually quite interesting if done seriously and from the PV it looks like it’ll be a pretty good show. The voice actors announced so far definitely don’t seem annoying and I’d go as far to say as Satomi Hanamura is good (from what I remember of 5cm/s and Battle Royale).
CANAAN
Am I watching: Yes
Should you watch: Yes
Why: You’re kidding me if you need a reason. With those voice actors and staff and the very linking to Type Moon this show is either going to be very very good or a great (but probably funny) disappointment, and either one would be good entertainment.
Cobra The Animation: Rokunin no Yuushi
Am I watching: No
Should you watch: Probably not
Why: Unless you like the manga or the previous TV series, you probably won’t find this interesting. The gimp masks don’t really do it for me. However, I’ll keep an ear out in case it’s good, because anime has been lacking a good Space Opera recently.
ELEMENT HUNTERS
Am I watching: One episode
Should you watch: Perhaps
Why: Every female seems flat! It seems pretty stupid, and apparently it’s main purpose is to teach children chemical elements. I find educational anime mainly horribly boring, but this one might turn out to be one of those shows aimed at kids that you end up enjoying. There’s also an English option on the website.
Aoi Hana
Am I watching: Yes
Should you watch: Yes
Why: JC STAFF ( ゚∀゚)アハハ八八ノヽノヽノヽノ \ / \/ \. Yuri ヽ( >∀<)ノ AHAHA AHAHA AHAHAHAHA. But seriously, it could be pretty good. I’m going to watch it either because I’m forced to by fansubbing or forced to by some faggots like windex.
Spice and Wolf II
Am I watching: Yes
Should you watch: Yes
Why: Unless you didn’t like the first season, you’ll probably be watching this. The OVA that was released a few months ago gave us a bit of a taste of things to come, with the animation being done by Brains Base too, and I enjoyed it a lot. Looking forward to little Horos in the season finale (please, don’t cocktease us anymore).
Bakemonogatari
Am I watching: Yes
Should you watch: Probably
Why: SHAFT SHAFT SHAFT SHAFT. Romance. Supernatural. Comedy. Hiroshi Kamiya. Chiwa Saito. Shinbo. SHAFT.
Umineko no Naku Koro Ni
Am I watching: Yes
Should you watch: Yes
Why: Fuuuuuuuuuck, Umineko. Also awesome OP.
Zan Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei
Am I watching: Yes, because I know the gods will shine down and subs will be provided
Should you watch: Yes, if you’ve enjoyed any of the previous series.
Why: This line is now redundant.
Hetalia Axis Powers 2
Am I watching: The DVDs, because of the scheme I worked up
Should you watch: If you aren’t watching season 1 already, go and do it
Why: It’s fucking hilarious
Next time I’ll do the other half of the chart.
I ripped the opening and ending out of the higher quality gg release; sadly there’s some quality degradation due to, oh, you know, ripping them off of the video file
I’m pretty sure the best series this season are going to be Umineko or Tokyo Magnitude 8.0…. I haven’t see any release of TM8 though
