Anyway, I haven’t really been keeping up on Summer anime, and I don’t think I’ll be keeping up on much next season (Natsu no Arashi, Trapeze, Kobato and Nogizaka aside), but I have been watching some of my backlog!

I’ve finally gotten around to watching Lucky Star, I’ve started Toshokan Sensou, VOTOMS, Starship Operators and Battle Programmer Shirase. Whether I can finish any of these before I go to university is a completely different matter though.

I guess I might make a content-filled blogpost soon. Maybe.

Wow this show is pretty. Characters seem fine, looking forward to how the lesbian romance turns out and how serious it’ll be.

Wow this show is pretty much the best piece of artistry in anime I’ve seen this year, at least. Good going SHAFT. Subbing this is actually fun.

CANAAN
The first episode had a nice bit of action but nothing much really happened. Hoping the second episode will actually have a genuine plot in it.

Umineko no Naku Koro ni
Oh man, Battler, why do you look like a 5 year old with those eyes? Also I’m not too happy about cutting/removing some tracks from the game, but then again I wasn’t expecting too much.

Why: Although I normally dislike harem shows, I actually enjoyed the first episode here. It’ll be interesting to see if they can keep up that quality of animation for the whole show.

I guess the point of this post is a) to show I’m still alive b) apologise for not delivering some better blog post earlier (I’ve had plans for making one about the awesomeness of 0080) and c) look at what’s coming up next season.

I don’t know why people are saying next season is going to suck. There’s a dozen or so shows I’m interested in, and probably something similar for most people. The following is a list of shows and why you should check it out, or why they might be good, or why I don’t want to watch them.

Tokyo Magnitude 8.0
Am I watching: Yes
Should you watch: Yes
Why: Amid cries of BONES I’m actually watching this because the premise seems interesting — disaster and post-disaster anime are usually quite interesting if done seriously and from the PV it looks like it’ll be a pretty good show. The voice actors announced so far definitely don’t seem annoying and I’d go as far to say as Satomi Hanamura is good (from what I remember of 5cm/s and Battle Royale).

CANAAN
Am I watching: Yes
Should you watch: Yes
Why:  You’re kidding me if you need a reason. With those voice actors and staff and the very linking to Type Moon this show is either going to be very very good or a great (but probably funny) disappointment, and either one would be good entertainment.

Cobra The Animation: Rokunin no Yuushi

Should you watch: Probably not
Why: Unless you like the manga or the previous TV series, you probably won’t find this interesting. The gimp masks don’t really do it for me. However, I’ll keep an ear out in case it’s good, because anime has been lacking a good Space Opera recently.

ELEMENT HUNTERS

Why: Every female seems flat! It seems pretty stupid, and apparently it’s main purpose is to teach children chemical elements. I find educational anime mainly horribly boring, but this one might turn out to be one of those shows aimed at kids that you end up enjoying. There’s also an English option on the website.

Why: JC STAFF ( ﾟ∀ﾟ)ｱﾊﾊ八八ﾉヽﾉヽﾉヽﾉ ＼ / ＼/ ＼. Yuri ヽ( >∀<)ﾉ AHAHA AHAHA AHAHAHAHA. But seriously, it could be pretty good. I’m going to watch it either because I’m forced to by fansubbing or forced to by some faggots like windex.

Spice and Wolf II

Why: Unless you didn’t like the first season, you’ll probably be watching this. The OVA that was released a few months ago gave us a bit of a taste of things to come, with the animation being done by Brains Base too, and I enjoyed it a lot. Looking forward to little Horos in the season finale (please, don’t cocktease us anymore).

I’m behind a bit on BASARA, 07 Ghost and Shangri, too. Considering dropping Saki (RisPara is more about wine than Saki is about mahjong) and Charady (she’s a fucking whiney whore).

In other news, the voice cast for Umineko was finally completed yesterday. I’m a little saddened that there was no Wakamoto as Kinzou or Fujikei as Rudolf, but I’m fine with Mugihito and Koyama. There’s some surprisingly big names for the parent characters in there too, and I can always hope that Ronove will be Fujikei~

Edit: Whoops, I forgot about Natsu. It’s pretty damn awesome, and episode 6 was surprisingly deep. Also Arashi is pretty hot.

In other news, Natsu no Arashi is turning out to be a lot more enjoyable than I expected it would be. I started watching 07 Ghost and it’s pretty fucking awesomely gay and hot. It even has hot nuns in case you aren’t gay. Ristorante Paradiso keeps getting better and better, as does Higepiyo. Cross Game is great too, and I need to get playing some more Umineko later.
