Spring 2009 Continued

This season is turning out to be pretty good for the shows I’m watching regularly. Ignoring that K-ON makes my penis fall off every 2 minutes because it’s a fucking stupid moebomb of fucking “cute”ness, and Guin not being subbed by anyone decent, most other shows are getting along nicely.

Jesus’ chrism (thank you spell check, this word is perfect) I want to watch this so bad right now.

In other news, Natsu no Arashi is turning out to be a lot more enjoyable than I expected it would be. I started watching 07 Ghost and it’s pretty fucking awesomely gay and hot. It even has hot nuns in case you aren’t gay. Ristorante Paradiso keeps getting better and better, as does Higepiyo. Cross Game is great too, and I need to get playing some more Umineko later.

Spring Anime #4

This season seems to be making up for a lot of the shit last year gave. Almost everything I’ve watched has been good and I’ve wanted more.

Cross Game was very, very nice. The characters are great, the voice acting is great, the soundtrack is great, the animation is great. It was a truly great first episode, and I can’t wait for more.

Guin Saga was surprisingly good. I looked at this show a few months ago and thought “that’s a silly premise, it’ll never work”, but lo and behold it turned out quite nice. I was confused whether the brother of the two was actually a guy, and I still think he’s a faggot, but other than that everything else was good. The fight was pretty awesome, but has nothing on the next show.

Sengoku Basara was an interesting game (though I prefered Sengoku Musou because I am/was a KOEI fag), but the first thing I thought when I heard it was going to be an anime was “Oh dear, this is going to fail spectacularly”. Way to prove me wrong, you bastards. It has epic fights, epic soundtrack, a great OP, some pretty slick voice acting and a subtle mix of comedy thrown in there (riding horses up walls, motorbike horses, the like) to make it one of the best shows the season, certainly in the top 5.

I think I should only have one of these to go, with Mazinger Z, Pandora, Phantom, Hanasakeru, possibly Hatsukoi, possibly 07 Ghost and HOPEFULLY Polyphonica.

This is possibly one of the best anime you’ll ever see this year. I took screens from episode 2 because it has more characters and the softsubbed version was downloaded by the time I started this post.

I’ve been playing Umineko the past few days. FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF.

It’s pretty awesome, ignoring the artwork (which you quickly get used to) and the flaws in editing of the translation. But still, I just finished the first episode today and pretty much everything is great. I can’t really say much without spoiling, but you should go grab it.

As for anime, I watched Shangurira, which I’m going to dub Carbon Economics, yesterday. It didn’t seem that bad, it only had a few traces of GONZO about really. Interested to see how future episodes are though.

Spring 2009 Anime #2

Eden of the East is pretty fucking awesome. Probably the best anime of this season based on the first episode. The character designs, OP/ED, music, story (or what I can gather of it), voice acting, animation… everything seems great. They even got people who can actually speak English to speak English lines, which is always a classy little bonus.

Disregard my previous post about Valkyria and Ayako because that faggot isn’t encoding so it looks decent. The show itself is good, but the redrawing of the details of the plot to be more anime friendly has resulted in some bad moves so far, such as 20-30 Imperial troops sieging one mansion with three people inside. Sense where?

Ristorante Paradiso is the gayest non-gay show I’ve ever seen. I’d go gay for those guys. Though saying that, the second episode looks pretty delicious. The animation quality I can’t say is anything special, and I don’t really like the character designs too much, but it seems like a decent show compared to some of the random shit this season is putting out. The OP/ED are nice too.

Slap Up Party is horrible. Horrible. But YMCK ED is great. YMCK ❤

PS: Go D-backs! Fuck yeah!

Spring 2009 Anime

Okay, so blog post time.

Things I’m going to watch this season are:

K-ON!, Valkyria Chronicles, Chi’s New Address (eventually), Charady, Asura Cryin’, Pandora Hearts, Phantom, Slap Up Party, Mazinger Z, Polyphonica Crimson S, Natsu no Arashi, Ristorante Paradiso, Eden of the East, and perhaps Saki. After writing this list I realise I’m a faggot and I’m going to be watching too many things, as usual.

K-ON! Episode 1 was decent. From working on the manga I know that the whole series basically has little plot, a lot of the humour is quite silly and it’s basically a moebomb show, so I wasn’t surprised. People on /a/ and everywhere in general are faggots because the hype only really started a week or two before the show aired (when I’ve been fapping to Mio for months) and now /a/ is basically /kon/.

I checked out the raw for Valkyria because I wanted to see the ED and hear how bad HIMEKA is at singing. Even with days of processing work, it still sounds awful. The verse is completely off-key, but at least they processed it so I didn’t completely claw my ears out. The characters seem fine compared to the character art, but I’m disappointed at Isara still looking like an alien freak. Here’s hoping Conclave are fast and more Edy awaits me~

Natsu no Arashi is pretty clever. SHAFT decided to fuck people over by making the art style slightly different from the manga (which is a move I somewhat like) and the show itself goes from standard comedy to crazy fucked up shit. I’m hoping episode 2 will be more messed up, because half of episode 1 (or more) was watchable, but nothing great.

Saki is fucking disgusting. It’s so bad… it’s good.

Charady is a useful waste of 3 minutes, but because there’s only one joke it can be kind of hit and miss. Although, Charady’s crazy monster friend reminds me from something out of AAAH! Real Monsters, which is always good.

That’s all I’ve seen so far, waiting for subs (or effort to watch) on most of the other things.
